COVID-19 UPDATE
We are back with a difference
In these crazy times, it would be great if you could book your table for dining to avoid dissappointment, as capacity has greatly reduced.
We are confident that we can offer safe surroundings inside and out, but with the touch of normality that we all crave at the moment.
Of course, if you are just popping out and fancy a meal or a drink, our team will do their upmost to accommodate you.
Our garden is spaced out beautifully, with that beautiful view.
We are sorry, but at the moment we will not be accepting bookings for groups of more than 6, this is following government guidelines. Because of this, if we find that customers are booking multiple smaller tables to get round this they will not be served and will be asked to leave. This is to keep everone , staff included, safe, and hope you all understand.
How it works
We are operating a one way system as much as we can, but realise, due to the building layout, this may not always be possible ie the elderly or disabled, and would ask you to keep your distance at these times. Thank you.
Diners eating inside will go straight to their table, where full table service will be given,
Diners eating in the garden can order their food and drinks at the bar, one person per table please
All our menus and condiments (plus boxes if you are outside) are sanitized after each use. Door handles, railings, hand grips and banisters are sanitized at regular intervals during the day.
Unfortunately, we can only accommodate tables of up to 6, and respectfully ask that you do not move tables at all.
The toilets have a light near them, which you can press on with your elbow on entering and press off again on leaving in a bid to minimise crowding. A sanitizing station is located at the top of the steps.
Please make sure children are under control at all times, and kept at a safe distance from other customers.
Phew – After all that, please enjoy your times with us.
We specialise in honest, home-cooked food and have built up a reputation since 2006 for consistently good food. We have this saying to diners, that the only thing not made on the premises is the ice-cream.
Our separate Public Bar is just the right place to bring along your well behaved dogs, so that you can enjoy a meal without leaving your pooch at home
There are many good walks around here, including the famous Weald Way, to work up an appetite.
Our bars and restaurant all have wood burning stoves, roaring away during the winter months to keep you warm. What could be better than sitting near one of the stoves enjoying one of our hearty pies?
Our large well kept garden is the only place to be during the warmer weather, we have great views across the weald, and, although we get busy in the garden, there are enough tables for everyone, without that feeling of overcrowding.
Real Ales in Tunbridge Wells
Our real ales are Larkin's (brewed locally at Chiddingstone) and Harvey's also local at Lewes. We are very proud to have achieved the Cask Marque award with 20 out of 20 everytime since 2007
Child Friendly Pubs in Fordcombe
We offer a separate menu for children
We have highchairs available, and can provide cutlery and plastic plates for babies and toddlers. Please be aware that due to limited space inside, prams and pushchairs can cause disruption

Closed on Sunday night and All day Monday
All of our staff are friendly and welcoming and will do everything they can to ensure you have a lovely
